Artist Bio:
Carla Thomas is an American singer, often referred to as the "Queen of Memphis Soul." She was born on December 21, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. Thomas began her music career in the early 1960s and signed with Stax Records, where she recorded many hits.


In 1961, Carla Thomas released her first single, "Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes)," which became a major hit and established her as a prominent figure in the soul music genre. She continued to release successful singles throughout the 1960s, including "B-A-B-Y" and "I Like What You're Doing (To Me)." Carla Thomas was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2012, recognizing her contributions to the city's rich musical heritage.
