Carla Thomas is an American singer often referred to as the "Queen of Memphis Soul." She was born on December 21, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. Thomas started her music career at a young age, recording her first single "Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes)" at the age of 18. The song became a hit and launched her to stardom.


Carla Thomas is best known for her soulful voice and hits such as "B-A-B-Y," "I Like What You're Doing (To Me)," and "Tramp" with Otis Redding. She was one of the first female artists to record for the legendary Stax Records and is considered a pioneer in the soul music genre. Thomas continues to be celebrated for her contributions to music and her influence on future generations of soul and R&B artists.
