Carla Thomas is an American singer known as the "Queen of Memphis Soul." She was born on December 21, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. Thomas began her music career in the early 1960s and rose to fame with hits such as "Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes)" and "B-A-B-Y." She was one of the first artists to record for the legendary Stax Records and became one of the label's most successful artists.


Carla Thomas is credited with helping to shape the sound of Southern soul music in the 1960s. She was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2016 in recognition of her contributions to the music industry. Thomas continues to be celebrated for her soulful voice and timeless hits that have left a lasting impact on the world of soul music.
