Carole King is an American singer-songwriter who was born on February 9, 1942, in Manhattan, New York City. She began her music career in the 1960s writing songs with her then-husband Gerry Goffin. King gained fame as a solo artist in the early 1970s with her album "Tapestry," which is considered one of the greatest albums of all time. It won four Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and featured hit singles like "It's Too Late" and "You've Got a Friend."
In addition to her successful solo career, Carole King has written or co-written over 100 pop hits, many of which have become classics. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. King continues to perform and write music, inspiring generations of musicians with her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics.
