Artist Bio:
The Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (vocals and drums) and Richard Carpenter (keyboards and vocals). They were active from 1969 to 1983 and were one of the best-selling music artists of all time. The duo's soft pop sound and Karen's distinctive voice earned them numerous hit singles and albums, including "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Rainy Days and Mondays."
Karen Carpenter's smooth and emotive vocal delivery, combined with Richard Carpenter's sophisticated arrangements and production skills, helped the duo achieve widespread success in the 1970s. Despite their commercial success, Karen's struggles with anorexia nervosa ultimately led to her untimely death in 1983. The Carpenters' music continues to be celebrated for its timeless appeal and enduring popularity.
