Artist Bio:
The Carpenters were an American pop music duo consisting of siblings Karen (vocals and drums) and Richard Carpenter (keyboards and vocals). They gained fame in the 1970s with their soft rock sound and Karen's distinctive voice. The duo's hits included songs like "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Top of the World."
The Carpenters released 10 studio albums and numerous singles before Karen's untimely death in 1983. They won three Grammy Awards and were one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Despite their success, the duo faced struggles with Karen's battle with anorexia nervosa, a disorder that ultimately led to her death at the age of 32. Richard Carpenter continues to preserve and promote the Carpenters' legacy through re-releases of their music and special projects.
