The Carpenters were an American music duo consisting of siblings Karen (vocals and drums) and Richard Carpenter (keyboards and vocals). They formed in 1969 and rose to fame in the 1970s with their soft rock sound and Karen's distinctive voice. The duo released numerous hit songs, including "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Top of the World."


Their music was known for its smooth harmonies, lush arrangements, and Karen's emotive vocals. The Carpenters achieved great success, winning three Grammy Awards and selling over 100 million records worldwide. Tragically, Karen Carpenter passed away in 1983 at the age of 32 due to complications from anorexia nervosa, leaving behind a lasting musical legacy that continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
