The Carpenters were an American musical duo consisting of siblings Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter. They were active from 1969 to 1983 and were known for their soft rock and pop sound. Karen served as the lead vocalist and drummer, while Richard played the piano and arranged their music.


The duo achieved great success with hits such as "Close to You," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Top of the World." They won three Grammy Awards during their career and sold over 100 million records worldwide. Tragically, Karen Carpenter passed away in 1983 at the age of 32 due to complications from anorexia nervosa. Despite her untimely death, the Carpenters' music continues to be beloved by fans around the world.
