Cat Stevens, born Steven Demetre Georgiou on July 21, 1948, is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He rose to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s with his introspective and heartfelt folk rock music. Stevens is known for his distinctive voice and poetic lyrics, which often reflected spiritual and philosophical themes. Some of his most popular songs include "Wild World," "Father and Son," and "Morning Has Broken."


In 1977, Stevens converted to Islam and changed his name to Yusuf Islam. He took a break from his music career to focus on his faith and humanitarian work, but returned to music in the 2000s. He continues to perform and record music under the name Yusuf/Cat Stevens, blending his folk rock roots with his newfound spiritual beliefs. Stevens has been recognized with several awards for his contributions to music and philanthropy, and remains a respected and influential figure in the music industry.
