Chairman of the Board is an American soul music group formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1967. The group was originally comprised of General Norman Johnson, Eddie Custis, and Danny Woods. They are best known for their hit songs "Give Me Just a Little More Time" and "Pay to the Piper," which both reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the early 1970s.


General Norman Johnson, the lead singer of the group, was also a successful songwriter and producer, working with artists like The Spinners and Freda Payne. Chairman of the Board continued to perform and record music throughout the decades, with various lineup changes.
