Charley Pride was an American country music singer, guitarist, and professional baseball player. He was born on March 18, 1934, in Sledge, Mississippi, and passed away on December 12, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. Pride was one of the few African-American artists to have success in the country music industry, breaking barriers and becoming the first Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Pride released over 50 singles that reached the top 10 on the country music charts, including hits like "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" and "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone." He won numerous awards throughout his career, including three Grammy Awards and several Country Music Association Awards. Charley Pride's contributions to country music have had a lasting impact on the genre, and he is remembered as a trailblazer who paved the way for future generations of diverse artists in the industry.
