Charley Pride was an American country music singer and guitarist who was born on March 18, 1934, in Sledge, Mississippi, and passed away on December 12, 2020. He was best known for being one of the few African-American musicians to have achieved great success in the country music genre. Pride signed with RCA Records in 1966 and went on to release numerous hit singles, including "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" and "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone."
Throughout his career, Charley Pride won several awards, including three Grammy Awards and multiple Country Music Association Awards. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Grand Ole Opry in 1993, solidifying his legacy as a groundbreaking figure in country music. Pride's music continues to be celebrated for its soulful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and significant contributions to the genre.
