Charley Pride was an American country music singer and musician who was born on March 18, 1934, in Sledge, Mississippi, and passed away on December 12, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. He was one of the few African-American artists to have success in the predominantly white country music industry. Pride released over 50 albums and had numerous hit songs throughout his career, including classics like "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'" and "Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone."


Pride was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. He was known for his rich baritone voice, charismatic stage presence, and groundbreaking contributions to country music. Pride's legacy as a trailblazer for diversity in country music continues to inspire artists and fans alike.
