Chely Wright is an American country music artist born on October 25, 1970, in Kansas City, Missouri. She began her music career in the early 1990s and released her debut album, "Woman in the Moon," in 1994. Wright achieved commercial success with her fourth studio album, "Single White Female," which was released in 1999 and produced several hit singles.


In addition to her music career, Chely Wright is known for being one of the first major country music artists to publicly come out as gay. She made headlines in 2010 when she came out in an interview with People magazine and has since been an advocate for LGBTQ rights in the country music industry. Wright has continued to release music and perform, while also using her platform to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQ community.
