Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946, is an American singer, actress, and television personality. She first rose to fame in the 1960s as part of the duo Sonny & Cher, with her then-husband Sonny Bono. Cher then embarked on a successful solo career, becoming known for her distinctive contralto singing voice and her eclectic style that blended elements of pop, rock, and disco music. She has released numerous hit songs, including "Believe," "If I Could Turn Back Time," and "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves."


In addition to her music career, Cher has also found success as an actress, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film "Moonstruck" in 1988. She has since appeared in several other films, including "Mask" and "Burlesque."
