Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The band was originally named Chicago Transit Authority before shortening it to Chicago. They are known for their distinctive sound, which blends elements of rock, jazz, and pop music. Chicago achieved great commercial success, with multiple top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and numerous platinum-selling albums. They are one of the longest-running and best-selling music groups of all time.


Chicago has released over 25 studio albums, with their self-titled debut album being one of their most successful. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years but has maintained a strong fan base and continues to tour and record new music. Chicago was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, recognizing their significant contributions to the music industry.
