Chicago is an American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. The band was originally named "The Big Thing" before changing to Chicago Transit Authority, and eventually shortening it to Chicago. They are known for their eclectic mix of rock, jazz, and pop music, as well as their distinctive horn section featuring trumpeter Lee Loughnane, trombonist James Pankow, and saxophonist Walter Parazaider.


Chicago has achieved great commercial success, with five number-one albums and numerous top-ten singles on the Billboard charts. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music groups of all time. Chicago has also received critical acclaim, winning multiple Grammy Awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
