Christopher Cross is an American singer-songwriter known for his soft rock music. He was born on May 3, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas. Cross rose to fame in the early 1980s with his self-titled debut album, which won five Grammy Awards in 1981, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. The album featured his most famous hit single, "Sailing," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.


Throughout his career, Christopher Cross has released a total of 12 studio albums, with his music blending elements of pop, rock, and adult contemporary genres. Some of his other popular songs include "Ride Like the Wind" and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)," which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
