Chuck Willis was an American rhythm and blues singer and songwriter who was active in the 1950s and early 1960s. Born on January 31, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia, Willis began his music career in the gospel genre before transitioning to rhythm and blues. He is best known for hits such as "C.C. Rider" and "It's Too Late," which helped him become a prominent figure in the R&B music scene.


Willis was known for his smooth vocal delivery and his ability to blend elements of blues, gospel, and R&B in his music. He was also recognized for his songwriting skills, penning many of his own hits. Despite his relatively short career due to his untimely death from peritonitis at the age of 30 in 1958, Chuck Willis left a lasting impact on the music industry and is remembered as a pioneer in the development of rhythm and blues music.
