Claude King was an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born on February 5, 1923, in Keithville, Louisiana, and passed away on March 7, 2013, in Shreveport, Louisiana. King began his music career in the 1940s, originally as part of a duo with his brother, but he later found success as a solo artist.
One of King's most well-known songs is "Wolverton Mountain," released in 1962, which reached the top of the country music charts and crossed over to the pop charts as well. Throughout his career, King had several other hits, including "Big River, Big Man" and "The Comancheros." He was known for his smooth baritone voice and traditional country sound, and he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
