Club Nouveau is an American R&B group formed in Sacramento, California in 1986. The group was originally formed by producer Jay King and vocalist Valerie Watson. Their breakthrough came in 1987 with their hit single "Lean on Me," a cover of Bill Withers' classic song, which reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also won a Grammy award for Best R&B Song.

In addition to "Lean on Me," Club Nouveau had other successful singles, including "Jealousy" and "Why You Treat Me So Bad." The group's music is known for blending elements of R&B, pop, and dance music. Club Nouveau continued to release music throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, with moderate success.
