Artist Bio:
Clyde McPhatter was an American R&B singer born on November 15, 1932, in North Carolina. He is best known for his influential role as the lead tenor of the vocal group The Drifters, one of the most popular R&B groups of the 1950s. McPhatter's distinctive high-pitched voice and emotive delivery helped define the sound of early R&B and soul music.

After leaving The Drifters in 1955, McPhatter pursued a successful solo career, releasing hits such as "A Lover's Question" and "Treasure of Love." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 as a member of The Drifters and later in 1988 for his solo career. Clyde McPhatter's contributions to the development of R&B and soul music have left a lasting impact on the music industry, and he is remembered as a pioneer of the genre.
