Clyde McPhatter was an American rhythm and blues, soul, and rock and roll singer. He was born on November 15, 1932, in Durham, North Carolina, and passed away on June 13, 1972. McPhatter was known for his smooth tenor voice and was a key figure in the development of the R&B genre.


McPhatter was the lead singer of the influential vocal group The Drifters in the early 1950s, where he recorded hits such as "Money Honey" and "Such a Night." He later pursued a solo career and had success with songs like "A Lover's Question" and "Treasure of Love." McPhatter's powerful vocals and emotional delivery influenced many artists in the soul and R&B genres that followed him.
