The Commodores are an American funk and soul band formed in 1968 in Tuskegee, Alabama. The group was originally known as the Mystics and later changed their name to the Commodores after signing with Motown Records in 1972. The band's lineup has included Lionel Richie, Thomas McClary, Milan Williams, William King, Ronald LaPread, and Walter Orange.


The Commodores achieved commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "Brick House," "Easy," and "Three Times a Lady." They have released numerous albums and won a Grammy Award for their song "Nightshift." The band's sound is a blend of funk, R&B, and soul, and they are known for their dynamic live performances. The Commodores continue to perform and tour, with a legacy as one of the pioneering groups in the funk and soul genre.
