Concrete Blonde is an alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1982. The band was originally comprised of singer/bassist Johnette Napolitano, guitarist James Mankey, and drummer Harry Rushakoff. Known for their unique blend of punk, alternative, and gothic rock, Concrete Blonde gained popularity in the late 1980s and 1990s with hit songs such as "Joey" and "God Is a Bullet."
Throughout their career, Concrete Blonde released several critically acclaimed albums including their self-titled debut album in 1986, "Bloodletting" in 1990, and "Mexican Moon" in 1993. The band's music often explored dark and introspective themes, with Napolitano's powerful vocals and poetic lyrics standing out as defining elements of their sound. Despite experiencing various lineup changes over the years, Concrete Blonde continued to perform and release music until their hiatus in the early 2000s.
