Country Joe McDonald is an American musician best known as the lead singer of the 1960s psychedelic rock band Country Joe and the Fish. Born on January 1, 1942, in Washington, D.C., McDonald was a prominent figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s, particularly for his anti-war activism and performances at various protest events.


In addition to his work with Country Joe and the Fish, McDonald has released several solo albums and collaborated with other artists over the years. He is also known for his iconic performance of "The Fish Cheer/I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag" at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, which became an anthem for the anti-Vietnam War movement. McDonald continues to perform and record music, showcasing his unique blend of folk, rock, and protest music to audiences around the world.
