Coven is an American rock band formed in the late 1960s, known for being one of the first occult rock bands. The band was founded by vocalist Jinx Dawson and consisted of an ever-changing lineup of musicians. They released their debut album, "Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls," in 1969, which featured dark and occult-themed lyrics and imagery. Coven is often credited as one of the pioneers of the occult rock genre, influencing later bands like Black Sabbath and Ghost.
Despite their early influence on the genre, Coven did not achieve mainstream success and eventually disbanded in the early 1970s. However, they have since gained a cult following among fans of occult and psychedelic rock music. In recent years, Coven has reunited for occasional live performances and continues to be celebrated for their unique and groundbreaking contributions to the rock music scene.
