Cozy Cole was an American jazz drummer born on October 17, 1909, in East Orange, New Jersey, and passed away on January 29, 1981. He began his professional career in the 1930s, playing with various bands, including those led by Benny Carter and Stuff Smith. Cole gained widespread recognition for his work as a member of the Cab Calloway Orchestra in the 1940s, where he showcased his lively and energetic drumming style.


In addition to his work with big bands, Cozy Cole also recorded as a bandleader and session musician, contributing to numerous jazz recordings throughout his career. He is best known for his hit single "Topsy Part 2," released in 1958, which reached the top of the charts and solidified his reputation as a skilled and versatile drummer in the jazz world. Cole's legacy continues to be celebrated by jazz enthusiasts for his significant contributions to the genre through his dynamic drumming performances.
