Creedence Clearwater Revival, often referred to as CCR, was an American rock band formed in 1967 in El Cerrito, California. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother Tom Fogerty on rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on bass, and Doug Clifford on drums. CCR gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s with their roots rock sound infused with elements of blues and country music. They are best known for their string of hit singles, including "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Fortunate Son." The band disbanded in 1972, with John Fogerty continuing his successful music career as a solo artist.
