Artist Bio:
C.W. McCall is the stage name of William Dale Fries Jr., an American country music singer, songwriter, and visual artist. He is best known for his hit song "Convoy," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976. The song was inspired by the citizens band (CB) radio craze of the 1970s and became a popular anthem for truckers.
In addition to "Convoy," C.W. McCall released several other successful country and novelty songs throughout the 1970s, including "Wolf Creek Pass" and "There Won't Be No Country Music (There Won't Be No Rock 'n' Roll)." He also voiced the character of C.W. McCall in a series of popular television commercials for the Old Home Bread brand. After his music career, Fries focused on his passion for visual arts, creating paintings and sculptures that have been exhibited in galleries across the United States.
