C.W. McCall is the stage name of William Dale Fries Jr., an American country musician and singer-songwriter. He is best known for his hit song "Convoy," which was released in 1975 and reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The success of "Convoy" led to a movie of the same name being released in 1978. C.W. McCall's music often featured themes of truck driving and the American West, reflecting his own experiences working as a truck driver.
