Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, is an American rapper and actress born on April 14, 1974, in Joliet, Illinois. She gained fame in the early 1990s as one of the first solo female rappers to achieve commercial success. Da Brat released her debut album, "Funkdafied," in 1994, which went platinum and spawned the hit single of the same name. She is known for her distinctive raspy voice, aggressive delivery, and charismatic persona.
In addition to her music career, Da Brat has also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as "Glitter" and "Kings of the Evening," as well as television shows like "Empire" and "Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta." Da Brat made history in 2020 by coming out as a lesbian, becoming the first female rapper to do so publicly.
