Dan Hartman was an American musician, singer, and songwriter born on December 8, 1950, in Pennsylvania. He first gained fame as a member of the Edgar Winter Group, where he played bass and sang backing vocals. Hartman later pursued a solo career and achieved commercial success with his 1984 album "I Can Dream About You," which featured the hit title track. The album reached Gold status in the United States and spawned several other popular singles.


In addition to his solo work, Dan Hartman was also known for his songwriting and production skills. He co-wrote the song "Living in America" with Charlie Midnight, which became a major hit for James Brown in 1985. Hartman passed away on March 22, 1994, at the age of 43. Despite his relatively short career, Dan Hartman left a lasting impact on the music industry with his contributions as a musician, singer, and songwriter.
