Darrell Banks was an American soul singer born on July 25, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio. He is best known for his hit songs such as "Open the Door to Your Heart" and "Somebody (Somewhere) Needs You." Banks began his music career in the early 1960s and signed with the record label Revilot Records in 1966, where he released his breakthrough hit, "Open the Door to Your Heart." The song reached number 2 on the R&B charts and number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966.
Despite his promising career, Darrell Banks tragically passed away at the young age of 32 on March 24, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan. His music continues to be celebrated by soul music enthusiasts and collectors for its emotional depth and powerful vocal delivery, solidifying his place in the history of soul music.
