David Blue was an American folk singer-songwriter who gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on February 18, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, and his birth name was Stuart David Cohen. Blue was known for his introspective and poetic lyrics, often drawing inspiration from personal experiences and social issues of the time. He released several albums throughout his career, including "David Blue" (1966), "These 23 Days in September" (1968), and "Stories" (1972).
Blue was associated with the Greenwich Village folk scene in New York City and was friends with prominent musicians such as Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. He also appeared in the 1970 film "Five Easy Pieces" alongside Jack Nicholson. Despite receiving critical acclaim for his music, David Blue never achieved mainstream commercial success. He passed away on December 2, 1982, in New York City, at the age of 41.
