David Houston was an American country music singer born on December 9, 1935, in Bossier City, Louisiana. He achieved commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s with several hit songs. Houston signed with Epic Records in 1963 and released his debut album, "David Houston Sings" in 1966. One of his most famous songs, "Almost Persuaded," was released in 1966 and became a massive hit, topping the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and the Billboard Hot 100.
Throughout his career, Houston had a total of seven number one hits on the country charts. Some of his other notable songs include "You Mean the World to Me" and "Have a Little Faith." Houston's smooth vocals and emotional delivery endeared him to country music fans, and he was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Unfortunately, Houston passed away on November 30, 1993, at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of timeless country music hits.
