David Houston was an American country music singer born on December 9, 1935, in Bossier City, Louisiana. He gained fame in the 1960s and 1970s with his smooth vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Houston signed with Epic Records in 1963 and released his debut album, "David Houston Sings" in 1966. He achieved his first major hit with the song "Almost Persuaded," which topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and also crossed over to the pop charts, reaching number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100.


Throughout his career, Houston released numerous hit singles, including "My Elusive Dreams," "You Mean the World to Me," and "Have a Little Faith." He was known for his traditional country sound and emotional delivery, which resonated with audiences. Houston continued to record and perform until his passing on November 30, 1993, leaving behind a legacy of timeless country music classics.
