David Lee Murphy is an American country music artist born on January 7, 1959, in Herrin, Illinois. He is best known for his hit songs in the 1990s and early 2000s, including "Dust on the Bottle" and "Party Crowd." Murphy started his music career as a songwriter in Nashville, where he wrote hits for artists like Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Blake Shelton. In fact, his songwriting skills earned him the Songwriter of the Year award from the Academy of Country Music in 1995.


In addition to his success as a songwriter, Murphy has released several albums as a recording artist, with his most recent album, "No Zip Code," being released in 2018. He continues to perform and tour, showcasing his unique blend of traditional country music with a modern twist.
