David Seville And The Chipmunks was a fictional musical group created by Ross Bagdasarian Sr. in 1958. The group consisted of three animated chipmunk characters named Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, with David Seville serving as their caretaker and producer. The group achieved commercial success with their novelty Christmas song "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1958.
Ross Bagdasarian Sr. provided the voices for all the characters in the group, altering the pitch to create the distinctive high-pitched voices of the chipmunks. The Chipmunks went on to release numerous albums, singles, and even starred in their own animated television series and several movies. The group's enduring popularity has made them a beloved part of pop culture, with their songs continuing to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
