David Seville was the stage name of Ross Bagdasarian, an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his creation of the fictional singing chipmunk trio Alvin and the Chipmunks. Seville's most popular song, "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)," was released in 1958 and became a massive commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In addition to his work with Alvin and the Chipmunks, Seville also had a successful career as a songwriter, penning hits for artists such as Rosemary Clooney and Johnny Mathis. He won two Grammy Awards for his work with the Chipmunks and was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. David Seville's contributions to music and entertainment have left a lasting legacy, and his creation of Alvin and the Chipmunks continues to be beloved by audiences of all ages.
