Their biggest hit was the song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree," released in 1973, which topped the charts in the United States and several other countries. The song became an anthem of hope and homecoming, especially for military personnel returning from war.
Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando continued to release successful singles throughout the 1970s, including "Knock Three Times" and "Candida." The group's music was known for its catchy melodies and harmonies, as well as Tony Orlando's distinctive vocals.
