Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
Dean Reed was an American singer, actor, and activist who gained popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, particularly in Latin America and Eastern Europe. Born on September 22, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, Reed began his music career in the late 1950s, releasing several albums and singles in both English and Spanish. He also appeared in a number of films, including "Sing, Cowboy, Sing" and "El Cantor." Reed's political views leaned towards socialism, and he became known as the "Red Elvis" for his support of leftist causes.

In the 1970s, Reed moved to East Germany, where he continued to enjoy success as a singer and actor. He also toured extensively in the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. Reed's sudden death in East Berlin in 1986 at the age of 47 remains a subject of controversy, with some speculating that he may have been a victim of foul play.
