Debarge signed with Motown Records in 1981 and released their self-titled debut album, which spawned several hit singles including "All This Love" and "I Like It."

The group continued to release successful albums throughout the 1980s, with their biggest hit being the single "Rhythm of the Night" from their album of the same name.
