Artist Bio:
Debbie Dean, born Reba Jeanette Smith on September 1, 1928, was an American R&B and soul singer. She signed with Motown Records in 1961, becoming one of the first white artists to record for the label. Dean released several singles with Motown, including "Don't Let Him Shop Around" and "A New Girl," but did not achieve significant commercial success. Despite this, she is remembered for her soulful and powerful voice, which earned her the nickname "The White Stevie Wonder." Dean left Motown in 1964 and continued to perform and record music independently. She passed away on October 17, 2001, leaving behind a small but impactful legacy in the music industry.

Debbie Dean's contributions to Motown Records helped pave the way for other white artists in the predominantly African American music scene. Her soulful voice and unique style set her apart from other artists of her time, and she remains a beloved figure in the history of R&B and soul music.
