Dee Clark was an American rhythm and blues and soul singer who was born on November 7, 1938, in Blytheville, Arkansas. He is best known for his hit songs in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Raindrops," which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1961. Clark began his music career as a member of a doo-wop group called the Hambone Kids before pursuing a solo career. He signed with Vee-Jay Records and went on to release several successful singles.
In addition to "Raindrops," Dee Clark had other notable hits such as "Hey Little Girl" and "Just Keep It Up." He was known for his smooth vocals and ability to infuse emotion into his performances. Clark's music had a significant influence on the rhythm and blues genre during the early 1960s. Sadly, he passed away on December 7, 1990, in Smyrna, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of timeless soul and R&B music.
