Artist Bio:
Del Shannon, born Charles Weedon Westover in 1934, was an American rock and roll and country musician. He is best known for his hit song "Runaway," which topped the charts in 1961 and solidified his place in music history. Shannon's unique falsetto vocals and his use of the Musitron, an early form of a synthesizer, set him apart from other artists of his time. He continued to release successful singles throughout the 1960s, including "Hats Off to Larry" and "Little Town Flirt."

Despite his initial success, Shannon struggled to maintain his popularity in the changing music landscape of the 1970s. He continued to perform and record music, but his commercial success waned. Tragically, Del Shannon took his own life in 1990 at the age of 55. Despite his untimely death, his music continues to be celebrated and remembered for its influence on the rock and roll genre.
