Artist Bio:
Denise LaSalle was an American blues, R&B, and soul singer, songwriter, and record producer. She was born Ora Denise Allen on July 16, 1939, in Mississippi and later adopted the stage name LaSalle after she moved to Chicago. LaSalle began her music career in the 1960s and gained fame in the 1970s with hits like "Trapped by a Thing Called Love" and "Now Run and Tell That." She was known for her powerful and soulful voice, as well as her candid and often humorous lyrics.


In addition to her successful music career, LaSalle also founded her own record label, Crajon Enterprises, and worked as a producer for other artists. She was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 and continued to perform and record music until her passing on January 8, 2018. Denise LaSalle left a lasting legacy in the music industry as a pioneering female artist in the blues and soul genres.
