Dennis DeYoung is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead vocalist and keyboardist of the rock band Styx. He was born on February 18, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois. DeYoung co-founded Styx in 1970 and was the primary songwriter for many of the band's hits, including "Come Sail Away" and "Babe."
DeYoung's distinctive voice and theatrical stage presence contributed to Styx's success in the 1970s and 1980s. He left the band in 1999 to pursue a solo career but continued to perform Styx's music in his live shows. DeYoung has released several solo albums and has also worked on musical theater projects. He is recognized as a key figure in the progressive rock and arena rock genres.
