Dennis Yost And The Classics IV were an American soft rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1965. The band's original lineup consisted of Dennis Yost (vocals), James Cobb (guitar), Wally Eaton (bass), Joe Wilson (keyboards), and Kim Venable (drums). They were known for their smooth, melodic sound and were one of the leading groups of the soft rock genre in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The band achieved commercial success with hits such as "Spooky," "Stormy," and "Traces." Their biggest hit, "Spooky," reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1968. Dennis Yost And The Classics IV continued to release music throughout the 1970s, but experienced several lineup changes. Despite these changes, they remained popular with audiences and continued to tour and perform until Yost's health issues forced him to retire in the late 2000s. Dennis Yost passed away in 2008, but the music of The Classics IV continues to be celebrated by fans of soft rock music.
