Depeche Mode is a British electronic music band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group consists of core members Dave Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), and Andrew Fletcher (keyboards). Depeche Mode rose to prominence in the 1980s with their dark, synthesizer-driven sound, becoming one of the most successful electronic bands in music history.


The band has released a total of 14 studio albums, with their most notable works including "Violator" (1990), "Songs of Faith and Devotion" (1993), and "Music for the Masses" (1987). Depeche Mode is known for their innovative use of synthesizers and sampling techniques, as well as their introspective lyrics and distinct visual aesthetic. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have been recognized with numerous awards, including a Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2006 for their single "Suffer Well."
